What Happened to the Women Doctors?
The women doctors were hired to practise preventive medicine in these centres. They ended up practising curative medicine with sick children. Administrators and especially the director of medical services thought that their centece had been, so to speak, high jacked by both african women, mothers, and european and medical doctors,. The lady medical officers, or women medical officers, as they were called at that time. And this, i think, says not about the agency a f africa women, but also of british medical offices.
