Is Sheridan a Good Cavalry Commander?
There was a huge row between sheridan, the cavalry commander of the army ofth potomac, and george meade. Both men were known to have terrible tempers, and their tempers were in true form on this day. Sheridan said he could whip the confederate caa under jeb stuart if Grant turned him loose. But grant says, well, sheridan usually knows what he's talking about; go and let him. The fight was inconclusive but it came very close to being an early victory that would pretty much fulfil those unrealistic expectations.
