A recent paper shows the extraordinary polarization of political Twitter. For every moral or emotive word you use in a tweet it is 20% more likely to be retweeted. There's hardly any retweet activity across the great political divide we used to call it the political center we now call it the killing zone. It should not have surprised us that creating giant online social networks would create not one happy global community all sharing cat videos but this second insight from network science it's a small world because weak tires are strong the straws.
