Dogs on the other hand are creatures that we communicate with very well but of course we're very far away from them. Why do we communicate with them so well? Because we've evolved together. Arguably we selected them on the basis of their ability to communicate with us. It seems that our ability to learn a language carries with it the ability to represent other things as true or false. The chimp doesn't have such a concept. And I'd like to connect it to the question of what it is that language gives us.
