The Impact of Genetically Engineered Microbes on the Earth

We've only been able to characterize maybe 1% of the trillion microbes out there. When you release a microbe that's genetically engineered, if it survives in the wild, it can travel and mutate. Microbes also can swap genes with other microbes. And we're of the belief that this is an existential threat that must be handled.
