The Impossibility of Thinking the Universe Is Past Eternal
Students from Dean close ask, could the universe be eternal rather than God. In order to exist necessarily a thing has to be eternal. If it comes into being that shows that it's contingent, not necessary. Hume actually concedes that there cannot be an actually infinite regress of past events.
