Rorty is taking AJA or as you described him one step further. He'd object to the simply and merely in those statements because there's no alternative. The logical positivists think science gives us the model of objectivity. Moral statements can't fit into that model so therefore moral statements are non-objective Rorty wants to say what A.R. thought was the case with respect to moral statements is also the cases with respect to scientific ones rightThere's no objectivity to be had, he says. Just as he says solidarity making community with the people who are like you and saying things to each other that you all endorse as a way of feeling community with others
