There's probably around three thousand working satellites in orbit right now, thes there's tens of thousands of pieces of debris bigger than cocan a. Losing a satellite in orbit has a major effect on life back down here on earth. Companies like space sex one web are launching hundreds or thousands of satellites over the next few years. Anything that creates more debrian orbits is making a current problem worse.
