The Neglect and Revival of Honor in Contemporary Politics

This chapter explores the neglect and understudy of honor as a theoretical concept in contemporary politics, with a focus on the predominance of the Hobbesian approach and the works of Faulkner and Krause attempting to revive the classical notion of honor in liberalism. It also discusses how honor shapes various aspects of contemporary politics, including nationalism, advice given to leaders, identity politics, and celebrity politics.
