What's the Difference Between Passphrase and Passphrase?
With passwords and pass phrases, both parties need to know what they are. But is a pass key in any way different to that? Is it being stored in both locations? Or is there something going on which is slightly different where only one of us knows the bit that I hadn't quite worked out? What you were explaining is what's called a two-way or symmetrical encryption. Both parties know a secret and they both use that same secret to confirm a identity.
