Is the US or State Investigators Have No Jurisdiction Over Anyone on the Reservations?
Non-indigenous people who now are on the reservation because of the oil boom would have no jurisdiction over them. If a crime is committed between a non-tribal member and a non-Tribal member, then that case belongs to the state. You end up with this jurisdictional tangle where very often you need to actually know the race or know the political affiliation of the perpetrator and victim before you're even able to begin assigning investigators to a case.
