The Power of Anchoring
If you want to win, set your anchor way further than you're doing right now. This is a basic technique of narrative control, of framing. The left does this all the time. They set the crazy radical anchor and the right chases after it. Even if you don't get exactly what you want by setting the anchor, you're former likely to get a resolution that is much closer to what you really wanted in the first place. If you're going to play the game, play to win.
