The Origins of Trade in the Mediteranean

Trade seems straightforward, but we shouldn't take it for granted. Minoan ships took higher quality pottery to the islands of the aegean and beyond. This kind of trade drove minoan society to become wealthier and more sophisticated. The manoans who built the first palaces at nosus, malia and paestos got the idea from their trading missions to the east. There in the cities of the near east, in egypt, palaces were a common sight.
