Eleanor Roosevelt and the First Lady

Eleanor Roosevelt was born in 1884 into a wealthy American family. FDR was her fifth cousin once removed. Her uncle Theodore Roosevelt was president at the turn of the century but it wasn't a happy childhood. When Eleanor was 15 she was sent to a boarding school near London England. Back in New York and not yet 18 Eleanor bumped into her cousin Franklin D. Roosevelt on a train journey. They were young and at first FDR's mother opposed the match but in 1905 they were married.
