The Battle of Damascus
The governor of Damascus was a man named Thomas who also happened to be the emperor's brother-in-law. The Muslim forces remember numbered roughly around 20,000 while Thomas' forces inside of Damascus were only about 15,000. Khaled ibn Walid knew this and he set his own men down and prepared for a long siege as well. He made sure all of the entrances to the city were covered so that the Romans would have a very hard time sending word back and forth.
