Bench Mark Best Practice, Predictive Analytics - What's the Guidance?

The goal of analytics is not to bench mark, how do i compare? Instead it's to learn who else is good and why they're good. And so the analytic field has got to get over its addiction to best practices and predictive analytics. It should be looking more at what's the guidance i need for outcomes i care about. That's the work we've been trying to do.
