Is There a Lacuna in the Science of Conspiracy Theories?

There hasn't been much academic research on conspiracy theories until the past 10 years. Race is not a proxy for general conspiracies, but it does predict who's likely to believe which conspiracy theory. African Americans are more likely to believe that AIDS was planted in inner cities by the CIA. Most recently, they were more likely to be vaccine hesitant.
