The FAA's Controller Staffing Challenges

The DOT's Office of Inspector General issued a report recently on FAA controller staffing challenges. Staffing is below the agency's 85% threshold, and so nowhere near 100%. The certified professional controller workforce has declined 10% over the past decade. It takes more than three years to train a controller; right now, 26% are trainees.
