There's a lot of ambiguity throughout the film that doesn't really have anything to do with the question of whether or not Ben is is the serial killer or not. I think speaks to this like broader question of the ambiguity of life or the mystery of life in certain ways and you know this this particular question is just kind of like one of those Jung-su talks at one point Ben asks him what kind of story he's writing and Jung-su says something like you know to me life is a mystery where Murakami feels more than drive my car this movie does in that there's an unresolvable question baked into the thing"
