How Rare Is Eric's Life?

LTCM and JWM both closed in the midst of economic crises, but they had positive returns over their lifetimes. In retrospect, these positions should not be run in something like an investment bank or a hedge fund. They belong in very lightly levered portfolios that are looking to get just a slight edge.
