Strong eventual consistency can give you enough of a guarantee that you don't necesarily have to go to that next level of adding strong consistency. Now, you could still add on top of that something like paxos, or another distributed consent algaritm to basically verify that nodes in your e have achieved a certain paridy as far as te the history that they're dealing with.
