The Effects of Exercise on Bone Glucose Metabolism
We used to think that bone was relatively inert, did not respond very quickly to anything, just a storage organ. And I think we're learning now that it is much more dynamic than at least I thought it was. You know, it can respond in 10 minutes to the onset of exercise. That's some of the factors that might be produced in bone like osteocalcin might have effects in adjacent tissues like muscle. Certainly Gerard Carcenti has shown that that's a possibility and I would like to see that work translated to humans. So I hope, hope somebody takes that challenge on.
