The more I learn about movies, there's always these alternate treatments and rewrites of pretty much every mage. There are two screenwriting teams that are responsible for a number of them. At one point, I think they got Disney distributing the movie and Disney kind of got involved. It does sound from a variety of people as though Morton and Jankle were not the easiest characters to work with.
