"We are a minority living here. At a time like none other in our history as an ummah, where there's so many Muslims living amongst non-Muslims in their lands is in high numbers," he says. "To survive and preserve our rights ... we need to position ourselves somewhere politically." He adds: "The left seemed or appeared to be... And some would argue still are the more plausible natural allies because they don't want to kill you,. But they do want to kill your faith".
