The Role of Race in the Location of Hazardous Waste Sites
Charles and Vernese started working on their study in the mid 1980s. Communities with hazardous waste sites had twice the percentage of people of color as those that didn't. The report found that more than education level, home ownership, class or income, race is the most statistically significant indicator of where hazardous waste sites are located.
