The Spindles of Shirley's Balcony Railing
Shirley was killed in a fall from her third floor balcony. A couple of the bent and broken spindles were lying nearby. An autopsy revealed that Shirley had about 14 times the recommended dose for a woman her age of ambient or its equivalent in her system. We asked a structural engineer named Justin Hall to do a little math.
