How to Teach Behavior When You're Stuck

Don't assume that someone else is as expert as you at it, says Tom. Instead of just saying a way to behave, tell them exactly what you want them to do. Give children expected roles and hold them accountable for their actions. Don't walk into situations where you get scrappy bits of paper on the floor. But if you like one of your kids snitch or something they're my grass, I'm going to say this: 'You know what? You've got to stop doing that.'"
