The Problem of the Helpers at the Nest

Cambridge University researchers have found that eggs laid by pairs are larger. They say it could be because a female who is breeding in a group knows her chicks will get all the extra care after hatching. And so she can afford to be a bit meaner in how she provisions her eggs, they say.
