Charles Dickens's Christmas Carol

In 1858, Charles's life was rocked by a personal scandal when he publicly separated from his wife. He'd started dating a much younger actress in secret, her name was Ellen Ternan. This is when he wrote one of his greatest books, arguably his best book, Great Expectations. In 1865, another terrible event shook up Charles's personal life, when he was caught up in a really horrible train crash.
