A Woman in the Polar Night by Christian Ritter

christian ritter travelled to swaubard in, i think about 19 33. She spent the winter there with her hunter trapper husband. Five years later she published an ext account called a woman in the polar night. It's a fascinating text for many reasons - speaks to disconnection from rest of nature. There's also an awful lot of humour in her writing isn't there? I'm thinking of the debate she has with herself whether she shoud put curtains up to keep the polar beds from peeping in. How much room is there for humour as well as emotion in nature writing? Do you think? Its a really difficult one.
