The Patterns in the Honey Storage
The bees in this colony have had access to normal nectar from their foraging trips, but also a supply of syrup that Mark has spiked with iodine. This will give us information of where those pathogens are likely to be within the colony. If all the honey gets mixed up in the hive larders, then any contaminated nectar brought in would be spread throughout the supplies and could expose all the bee larvae to European fowl brood. But if the workers are more careful in their cell stacking, most larvae might be fed clean honey.
