In 1953, Jonah Salk announced he had a vaccine that was close to being ready. In response, Saban publicly declared himself to be quote anti-Salk and applied that it was downright dangerous. Plans were drawn up for a country-wide experiment in 1954 where over 1.3 million children would take part.
