The British Imperial Project was central to the cultivation and distribution of wine from its colonies for reasons both ideological and economic. Historian Jennifer Wigan-Lefebv discusses three centuries of imperial wine production and consumption once primarily reserved for the elite, then later consumed by their lower classes. Gauteta's called for a new pact between rich and poor countries to make deeper cuts in emissions with financial help. More than 100 of them will speak over the next few days at the gathering in Egypt.
