How Rare Are the Bears in North America?
A few years ago, the stats were North America-wide. There's a close to a million black bears in North America. And you know, look at the number of people that are spending time in bear country and camping and recreating - it's growing all the time. I think part of it with these creatures, it's fascinating and amazing to me that they don't do more damage when they are so capable of it. Same with mountain lions, cougars. Same with a lot of these species, wolves. They are equipped to do damage to humans and they select and decide not to.
