The author's father is a black man from Texas. His first duty station was in Hawaii, where he met his mom and they had two children. He went out and sought out pleasure in the way that he wanted to outside of the commitments he made to my mom which broke her heart. And I remember when my only memories, I remember them being in the same room, and I write about it in my first book.
