Kal Nupor points our attention to a notice that Neil Stevenson put up on his website, basically explaining why and essentially apologising for the fact that he's an awful correspondent. This is what Nupor has to say about Stevenson's approach. He sees two mutually exclusive options: write good novels at a regular rate or answer a lot of individual emails and attend conferences. And as a result, produce lower quality novels at a slower rate. In order to keep producing these novels, he has to commit to deep work.
