The Roman Persecution of Christians
The persecutions of early christians is a controversial matter. 30 years after the crucifixion, christian communities had sprouted up all over the eastern empire. Historians often divide the roman persecution of christians into three phases. No evidence of persecution exists in the first phase, lasting until a great fire under emperor nero. Those who confessed to being christians were tortured to give up others.
