From the buddhist point of view, the motivation behind an action is a crucial part of the action. We know we can be generous from a whole variety of different motives. I might give you a book out of my tremendous pile of books, am because i like you? Or maybe i'm givin yi t cause i don't like you, and i think right in that first paragraph, i be something that's going to upset you. or maybe i can't bear the fact ti have so many books, and i've just got to giveem away. It's kind of a subtle and crucial part of minefulness training. And we continually practise that way.
