Borders Are Continually Fluctuating

Most Americans know little to know European history like prior to maybe at best World War I and even less of the rest of the world. So there's this tendency, number one, to be tunnel visioned on American history and have nothing to compare it to. And number two, to assume that where they are right now is like the divinely ordained magical place they always must be.
