How Writing a Novel Changed My Understanding of My Family
I was thinking less about specifically about my family and more about the characters and their relationships, but in terms of Margot being a daughter. I also realized that there were so many unanswered questions that I had for my father. What I thought felt kind of resolved in the writing maybe was not really resolved. It was still very messy. And so it was more when, when the book was published and she had written a couple of essays and my father had read it that we had a conversation about what had happened and how I'd felt.
