Spacecraft Sensors - How Do They Work?

spacecraft have a whole load of specialist equipment on board to help them work out their orientation. These include temperature censers, star trackers, and magnetometers. But that information only tells you which way the spacecraft is pointing, not its actual position. To do that, they need to rely on communication with earth. By analyzing signals that we send between earth and the spacecraft, we can work out its position,. how fast it's moving and in what direction - sure how long the signal takes to go and come back.
