The Beginning of the Universe

Harvard astronomer Cecilia Payne happened to be in Shapley's Harvard office when Hubble's message arrived. He laid out the two pages to her and exclaimed, here is the letter that has destroyed my universe. The groundwork for this had already been laid, some of it way back in time. Back in 1666, Sir Isaac Newton demonstrated that white light is a combination of different colors of light.
