Bentley's mother gave him his first microscope, essentially setting the stage for his life's work. Even at that early age, 15, by bentley's recollection, what he really wanted to look at was snowflakes. Wilson observed all of this, but he didn't just observe, he took detailed notes and he drew snow crystals.
