Introduction
There are 17 books on my bedside table, plus an e-reader stuffed with titles. At any moment I could retire to the horizontal and read one of a number of volumes. Partly this is because I'm great at starting things but bad at finishing them. And social media is too alluring and I just want to go to sleep. So the stacks of the unread get ever higher.
