ESG investors talk about how punishing brown firms will motivate them to become more green. But research shows that even if it gets easier for these green firms to access capital, their environmental impact barely changes. This is just because they don't have much to change. And they mostly services firms that already don't pollute. When they get more money, they continue not polluting.
