How to Hold a Property Long-Term

In the early years, we bought properties with 10 year horizons and we sold after one to five years. Nowadays, when we sell, we always try to do a 1031 tax-deferred exchange. We usually project, I'd say, seven to 10 year holds on these buildings. It's hard to hold older deals that are built in the 60s and 70s long-term because all the major systems start getting really, really old.
