Is There a Way to Remember Your Dreams?

Sleep is like shoe size, one size does not fit all. Each of us has to define what our individual sleep needs are and then adopt those behaviours that allow us to optimise our sleep. The best thing people can do is keep a dream journal next to their bedside. Some people will remember dreams as soon as they wake up and then forget them an hour or so later. One study looked at the dream content after the twin towers were destroyed in New York. And it wasn't planes going into skyscrapers but it was being mugged or being overwhelmed by a tsunami. So dreaming may well be part of the emotional processing that the brain is undergoing whilst we're asleep.
