The Trees of New York

The selection of the tree each year is akin to the beston show finals at the westminster dog show. For 26 years, that job was held by david p. Merbock who rented helicopters to scout trees from above. In 19 75, a 59 foot balsam fir was selected from new canaan, connecticut,. and soon the tree was on its way manhattan. Rockefellor centre came and bought jean wolf's tree in 19 28 or 29. Now, most trees to day are gleefully donated, but that was not always the case. More often than not, miller had to cajole a tree's owner and devotees into donating it.
