We're a Secular Country
For most of history there has been little or no divide between religion and the state. It wasn't until the founding of the united states that an explicitly secular country was established. Secular doesn't necessarily have a negative connotation, but some people think it's constitutional rational for forcing religious people to keep their beliefs themselves. This sentiment is not what was intended by the writers of the constitution.
