I think this phase of the fighting in Eastern Ukraine is what, in military terms, is called shaping the battlefield. The Russians have thrown huge numbers into this front and they're trying to keep the Ukrainians on the back foot so that Ukraine doesn't have an opportunity to really prepare properly for its spring offensive. Vitaly Znetsky has been personally overseeing a big political shakeup as part of an anti-corruption drive. There will be no return to what used to be in the past," he says.
